Global Championships: Then There Were Eight

Finals Day at the ADC Global Championship delivered exactly what the newĀ  straight-knockout format promised: high-stakes darts, big averages and no hiding place.

From the original field of 128, just 16 players walked into the afternoon session knowing one more win would put them into the Quarter-Finals and within touching distance of the £20,000 first prize.

The Last 16 (best of 11) produced a mixture of clinical performances and nervy deciders. Belgian Kevin Lankhuizen opened proceedings with a 6-4 win over Chas Barstow, grinding out the victory despite a host of missed doubles.

Callum Francis then produced one of the ties of the day, edging Ashley Coleman 6-5 in a high-quality encounter that could have gone either way.

Dutch interest stayed alive as Jamai van den Herik saw off Maxim Lemahieu 6-4, while Michael Wiles looked sharp in a 6-2 victory over Maikel Kustermans.

Neil Duff continued his strong run with a 6-4 success against Raymond Mulvey, and Dan Nicholls squeezed through a last-leg thriller against Jack Drayton, 6-5.

Lewis Cook matched Niek Tuik’s high scoring for long periods before closing out a 6-4 win, and the session’s standout performance belonged to Archie Self.

The young favourite averaged a stunning 105.83 in a dominant 6-2 defeat of Harrison Leigh to book his place in the last eight.

By late afternoon the Quarter-Final line-up was complete. The four ties (best of 13) were scheduled to begin from 18:00 GMT:

Michael Wiles vs Callum Francis
Neil Duff vs Dan Nicholls
Jamai van den Herik vs Kevin Lankhuizen
Lewis Cook vs Archie Self

The Semi-Finals (best of 15) and Grand Final (best of 17) will follow later in the evening, with the new ADC Global Champion set to be crowned tonight.

All action remains free to watch on Pluto TV via the MODUS Super Series channel.
